About

Me

The person behind the pixels.

My

BACKGROUND

Hi! My name is Ana, and I am a web designer with over 2 years of experience based in Danbury, CT. In May 2024, I graduated with magna cum laude from Western Connecticut State University with a degree in Digital & Interactive Media Arts and a concentration in Computer Science.

I didn’t always know I would get into web design, but I think this journey started for me back in high school, when I would enjoy creating Google Slides presentations with customized colors, fonts, and images. By my junior year, I also joined the yearbook staff, which was some of my earliest training in visual design by understanding the basics of photography and building page layouts.

When I’m not designing websites, I enjoy listening to music, reading fantasy books, and playing with my dog. I’m curious about history, wildlife, astronomy, and RV glamping.

Key

Skills & Software

(Click each white box for more details)

I mostly have experience with WordPress.org sites, using the Gutenberg Editor, Classic Editor, and Elementor.

I have built customized designs for two e-commerce sites using Wix, one for a real start-up and another as a university project.

I have used Figma for numerous projects during all stages of the iterative web design process, from creating basic wireframes to detailed desktop and mobile mockups complete with interactive components.

With my background in Digital & Interactive Media, I have learned a lot of Adobe applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Aero). I am also currently learning their more affordable alternatives: the Affinity Creative Suite (+ Canva).

Using HTML and CSS, I have developed a few basic (vanilla) websites and inserted custom code into sections of my WordPress sites. I am currently looking to learn more about front-end development libraries and frameworks, starting with React.

Having taken multiple Computer Science courses in high school and college, I have coded many programs using C++, Java, JavaScript, and SQL. My CS background has given me a solid understanding of object-oriented programming, as well as foundational knowledge in computer architecture, databases, and data structures.
